Downtown reroutes also in place for the event on July 31

VANCOUVER, BC – TransLink is boosting transit service and adjusting some bus routes to help customers get to and from the Summer Lights in English Bay fireworks night in downtown Vancouver on Friday, July 31.

The following changes to bus service will be in effect:

• Special pre-event shuttles will run from Burrard Station to the intersection of Denman and West Georgia streets from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
• Special post-event shuttles will run from the intersection of Bidwell and West Georgia streets.
  • Customers will be dropped off at the intersection of Burrard and West Georgia streets (near Burrard Station), and then Waterfront Station.

• Special post-event shuttles to West and North Vancouver will run from the intersection of West Georgia and Denman streets.

• Due to street closures, routes 5, 6 (from 5 p.m. to midnight), and 23 (from 11 a.m. to midnight) will be temporarily rerouted.

SkyTrain will operate every two to three minutes before and after the fireworks.

• To ensure customer safety, access to the entrances at Burrard, Granville, and Waterfront stations will be modified due to potential crowding.
• Bikes will not be permitted on SkyTrain after 10:30 p.m. until crowds have cleared.

SeaBus will extend 10-minute service frequencies from 6:30 p.m. until 11 p.m.

• Service will run every 15 minutes after 11 p.m. until the last sailing from Waterfront at 1:22 a.m.

Due to expected large crowds during this event, customers should plan for additional travel time on all modes of transit. Extra Transit Police, Transit Security, SkyTrain Attendants, and Transit Volunteers will be at stations to assist and direct customers.
